Today is Sunday, May 2, 2010. Today I picked Proverbs 2:1, New King James Version as always.
Proverbs 1:2 is a partial thought and is part of a bigger list of what a person needs to do to gain wisdom and understanding from God. In this particular chapter, verse one contains the first two items needed to understand the fear (respect) of the Lord and to find the knowledge of God (from Proverbs 2:5).
These first two items are:
1. Receive God's words (the Bible and what it written therein).
2. Treasure God's commands within you.
In order to receive we must have a willing and open heart. In order to treasure something, we must see the value in it as a treasure. Maybe we will find more detail on this as we journey through Proverbs.
